Como jogar

  1. Choose one host — only the host knows the full story and the strange situation's true explanation.
  2. The host reads out a short, puzzling scenario. It sounds impossible or bizarre on the surface, but there's a hidden reason behind it.
  3. Everyone else asks the host yes-or-no questions, gradually narrowing in on what really happened.
  4. The host answers each question with "yes," "no," or "that doesn't matter / can't answer that" for questions that are off-track or don't fit a yes/no answer.
  5. The round ends when the group correctly pieces together the true explanation and the host confirms it, or when the host reveals the answer outright.

Como ganhar

The puzzle is solved when the group arrives at the explanation the host had in mind and the host confirms it. It's less a competitive win-or-lose game than a shared process of reasoning your way to the truth together.

Perguntas frequentes

Does the host have to answer every question with yes or no?
No. Under the basic rules, if a question is off-track or can't be answered with a simple yes or no, the host can just say "that doesn't matter" or "can't answer that" instead.
Where does the name "Turtle Soup" come from?
The genre takes its name from a famous originating puzzle — a diner orders turtle soup at a restaurant, takes one taste, and later takes his own life, and the challenge is to work out why. It's widely considered the namesake puzzle that gave this whole genre of lateral-thinking puzzles its name.
